Welcome to the blog side of Between the Earth and the Sky. The rest of this site is live data: the Sun, the bands, the ISS and the weather over Northeast Ohio, updating on their own. This is the part where a human gets to talk.
What you’ll find here
- Notes from the shack. FT8 contacts worth mentioning, antenna experiments, and what worked (or didn’t).
- Space weather in plain language. When a flare or geomagnetic storm hits, what it means for the HF bands and for aurora chances here in Ohio.
- Local weather. Interesting setups from NWS Cleveland, lake-effect season, and storm spotting.
- Getting licensed. Tips for anyone working toward a Technician license.
Keep an eye on the live dashboards, and check back here for the stories behind the numbers.
